Chapter 10 - THE KISS THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Their first kiss happened on a rainy Thursday evening.
There was no grand dinner.
No expensive restaurant.
No orchestra.
Just Roman's office, a thunderstorm, and two people who had spent years pretending they didn't feel anything.
Narelli stood near the window.
Roman approached.
“Can I ask you something?”
She smiled.
“You've been asking a lot of questions lately.”
“I know.”
He stopped in front of her.
“Can I kiss you?”
Narelli looked at him.
For a moment, she said nothing.
Then smiled.
“Yes.”
Roman leaned down.
The kiss was gentle.
Careful.
Nothing like the ruthless man the city feared.
When he pulled back, Narelli was smiling.
“What?” he asked.
She shook her head.
“Nothing.”
“Narelli.”
She laughed.
“I just never imagined Roman Kinsley would ask permission to kiss someone.”
He smiled.
“I'm learning.”
She touched his cheek.
“Good.”

And for the first time in years, Roman forgot about his empire.
