Chapter 12 - THE FALL OF VINCENT BELLINI

Vincent Bellini was arrested six weeks later.

The evidence against him included financial records, witness testimony, and documents connecting his organization to violent crimes.

Several associates cooperated with investigators.

The case attracted national attention.

Edmund testified.

Vivien testified.

Her mother's journal became a crucial piece of evidence.

When the jury returned guilty verdicts on the principal charges, Vivien felt her knees weaken.

Edmund reached for her hand.

She squeezed it.

Outside the courthouse, reporters shouted questions.

Vivien ignored them.

She looked at her husband.

“Is it over?”

Edmund considered the question.

“The trial is.”

“And everything else?”

He smiled sadly.

“That takes longer.”

She nodded.
