Chapter 10 - THE FATHER WHO BUILT THE EMPIRE

Edmund read the journal through the night.
Vivien sat beside him.
Neither slept.
The evidence was extensive.
Antonio Costa had helped finance Vincent's criminal network.
He had used legitimate shipping companies to conceal illegal operations.
When Isabella discovered the truth, she threatened to expose him.
The fire that killed her had not been an accident.
It had been arranged to silence her.
Edmund stared at the pages.
His hands trembled.
“My father knew.”
Vivien touched his arm.
He didn't move.
“He knew Isabella was in danger.”
His voice broke.
“And he did nothing.”
Vivien felt tears fill her eyes.
Edmund closed the journal.
For a long time, he stared at the floor.
Then he whispered, “I spent twenty years trying to avenge her.”
Vivien squeezed his hand.
“And now?”
He looked at her.
“Now I want justice.”
She nodded.
“Then we do it the right way.”
Edmund looked toward the window.
