Chapter 7 - The Thugs at the Kitchen Door

“Dominic!” Victor stammered, leaping to his feet as the color drained from his face. “What... what is the meaning of this? The quarterly executive dinner isn't until eight tonight!”
Dominic didn't answer with words.
He tossed a tactical radio onto the table between them.
The radio crackled to life with Marco Stone’s voice:
‘Boss, we intercepted the two armed contractors attempting to breach Miss Carter’s Brooklyn apartment. Both men are neutralized and detained. They have confessed that Thomas Henderson paid them fifty thousand dollars in cash to execute an arson hit.’
Henderson let out a high, pathetic squeak, collapsing backward onto the leather sofa.
Dominic walked over to his cousin, his footsteps echoing with the terrifying cadence of an approaching execution.
He pulled out the vellum document with the gold seal, laying it flat over the spilled scotch on the table.
“Recognize my father's seal, Victor?” Dominic asked softly.
Victor stared at the document, his hands shaking so violently that he had to grip the edge of the bar. “Dominic... listen to me! That old man was senile during his final months! You can't give twenty percent of our family's bloodline to a secretary!”
“That secretary's mother took a bullet in the shoulder to pull our father out of a burning car in 1998, Victor,” Dominic replied with chilling disgust. “While you were stealing from our pension funds to pay your gambling debts in Monaco.”

Dominic turned to his tactical guards.
“Strip their badges. Confiscate their phones. Take them down to the subterranean holding vault until the board meets tomorrow morning.”
