Chapter 10 - Sunlight on Moretti Plaza

Two years after that unforgettable afternoon in the lobby, the golden morning sun bathed the magnificent outdoor terrace of Moretti Plaza overlooking Central Park.

The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming white jasmine, roasted espresso, and the joyful, unrestrained laughter of children.

Running across the manicured rooftop lawn was eight-year-old Lily, dressed in her school uniform, throwing a frisbee for a pair of playful golden retriever pups.

Under the shaded marble pergola, a breakfast banquet table was laid with fresh fruit tarts, warm croissants, and sparkling peach cider.

As the Vice President of the Salvatore & Anna Moretti Children’s Foundation, I had just signed the final endowment papers funding thirty-five educational academies and free medical clinics for underprivileged single mothers across New York.

Footsteps clicked softly against the teak decking.

Dominic walked over from the library steps, looking magnificent in a relaxed white linen shirt and dark trousers. He wrapped a strong, protective arm around my waist, pulling me close against his chest and kissing the side of my forehead.

“What are you thinking about, my brilliant Vice President?” Dominic asked softly, his slate-grey eyes glowing with infinite tenderness.

I leaned back against his broad chest, feeling his steady, powerful heartbeat against my shoulder.

“I was thinking about that termination letter,” I smiled, looking out at the sunlit Manhattan skyline. “When Henderson handed me that paper, I thought my world was ending. I had no idea my little girl was about to change our destiny forever.”

Dominic smiled from the depths of his soul, turning me in his arms and looking down into my eyes with boundless, unyielding love.

“Your daughter didn't just save your job, Anna,” Dominic whispered, resting his hand over mine. “She brought truth back to this family. She gave me the two greatest treasures on earth—a daughter to protect, and the woman I will love for the rest of my life.”

Lily came sprinting up the terrace steps on her fast little feet, jumping into Dominic’s arms with a burst of pure, ringing laughter.

“Daddy! Mommy! Look! The puppies learned how to sit!”

Dominic laughed, scooping Lily up with one arm while wrapping his other arm tightly around my waist, pulling us both into a warm, fierce, unbreakable embrace beneath the endless golden sunshine.

The cold apartments, the cruel letters, the stolen deeds, and the shadows of betrayal were gone forever. Standing tall in the light of truth, surrounded by honor, prosperity, and unconditional love, we were finally whole—a family that would stand strong, bright, and unbreakable for all the years to come.
