Chapter 8 - The Vows Witnessed by Tears

The elderly minister stepped forward, clearing his throat with a warm, grandfatherly smile.
“Dearly beloved,” the minister began, his voice echoing with sacred peace. “We are gathered here not merely to unite two lives in marriage, but to witness the power of love that endures across generations.”
When it came time for the vows, Benjamin turned to Claire, holding both of her hands.
He didn't read from a prepared card. He spoke from the bottom of his heart.
“Claire,” Benjamin said softly, his voice rich with emotion. “I grew up in a home where dinner was often simple bread, but love was boundless. My mother taught me that a man's worth is measured by what he is willing to protect, not what he collects.”
He looked into her eyes with unwavering devotion.
“Today, when you walked to the back of this church to honor the woman who built my foundation, you showed me that you love the truth of who I am. I vow to honor you, protect you, and cherish you with that same fierce, unyielding devotion for all the days of my life.”
Claire smiled, tears spilling onto her cheeks.
“Benjamin,” Claire replied, her voice sweet and strong. “I fell in love with your talent, but I chose you for your heart. And today, seeing the man your mother raised, I know that our children will grow up knowing that dignity, honor, and gratitude are the greatest treasures on earth.”
The minister lifted his hands.
“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Benjamin, you may kiss your bride.”
