Chapter 8 - THE DOCTOR WHO SIGNED THE TRANSFER

Dr. Leonard Price denied everything.

He admitted treating Nico eleven years earlier.

He acknowledged signing a transfer order.

But insisted he'd acted according to information provided by the family.

The hospital's legal team reviewed the records.

Investigators obtained appropriate authorizations and court orders to examine the archived documents.

The transfer destination was listed as a private rehabilitation center in Wisconsin.

The facility had closed seven years earlier.

Dante stared at the address.

Then looked toward Roman.

“Find out where the patients went.”

Roman nodded.

Meanwhile, Vivien received notice that she was being placed on administrative leave.

The reason cited was “conduct inconsistent with professional boundaries.”

She read the letter twice.

Then called her union representative.

At the meeting, Vivien was calm.

She presented her documentation.

The original room assignment.

The incident report.

The threatening note.

The compliance complaint.

Her representative listened.

Then said:

“We're challenging this.”

Vivien nodded.

That evening, Dante called.

“I heard what happened.”

Vivien closed her eyes.

“Of course you did.”

He hesitated.

“I can help.”

She shook her head.

“I don't want you threatening anyone.”

Dante was silent.

She continued.

“I want the hospital to follow its own rules.”

He nodded.

“Then that's what we'll support.”

Vivien swallowed.

For the first time, she realized something.

Dante Morello was listening to her.

Not because she was powerful.

Not because she was wealthy.

May you like

But because she was right.

And that frightened her almost as much as it comforted her.
