Chapter 12 - THE NURSE WHO GOT HER JOB BACK

Vivien's administrative leave lasted six weeks.
Her union representative challenged the hospital's decision.
The compliance investigation confirmed that room 412 had been improperly marked vacant and that relevant administrative records had been altered.
The hospital restored Vivien to duty.
Dr. Price was removed from administrative responsibilities pending further review.
Vivien returned to pediatrics on a Monday night.
The first thing she saw was her old IV cart.
The wheel was squeaking again.
She stared.
Then laughed.
A younger nurse approached.
“What's funny?”
Vivien shook her head.
“Nothing.”
She knelt.
Adjusted the wheel.
Then stood.
At midnight, she received a message.
Dante: How was your first shift back?
Vivien smiled.
Vivien: Quiet. Except the cart.
A moment later:
Dante: Should I send a toolkit?
She laughed.
Vivien: Absolutely not.
Then another message arrived.
Dante: Gabriel is awake. He asked about you.
Vivien froze.
She typed:
Vivien: Is he okay?
Dante: Getting stronger. He wants to thank the nurse who found him.
May you like
Vivien smiled.
For the first time in weeks, the hospital felt like home again.
