Chapter 11 - THE TRUTH ABOUT THEIR FATHER

Nico's memories were incomplete.

Years of trauma, isolation, and inconsistent care had left gaps.

But he remembered one thing clearly.

The night their father died.

He had been fourteen.

He'd heard an argument in the family study.

Teresa was there.

So was their father.

Nico remembered shouting.

A crash.

Then silence.

He entered the room and saw their father lying on the floor.

Teresa turned.

She saw him.

Then everything changed.

Nico was taken away before dawn.

He was told Dante had agreed.

He was told his brother didn't want him anymore.

Dante listened.

His face was pale.

Nico looked down.

“Did you?”

Dante shook his head.

“No.”

His voice broke.

“Never.”

Nico began crying.

Dante took his hand.

“I looked for you.”

Nico nodded.

“I know that now.”

The investigation into their father's death was reopened.

Authorities examined the old evidence.

Witnesses were interviewed.

Teresa denied involvement.

But financial records and testimony suggested she'd played a role in concealing Nico's whereabouts.

Dante didn't seek revenge.

He cooperated with investigators.

For the first time, he wanted the truth more than punishment.

And he wanted Nico to have a future that didn't depend on the Morello family.
