Chapter 14 - THE MORNING LEO CALLED HER FAMILY

One year later, Isabella lived in New York.
She received medical and psychological support.
She was rebuilding her life.
Slowly.
On her own terms.
Sophia returned to school.
She studied early childhood education.
Her experience with Leo had inspired her to help children who struggled with sensory overload and communication difficulties.
Alejandro supported her goals without trying to control them.
Leo adored her.
He called her Aunt Sophia.
And Isabella became his favorite person to sing with.
One morning, Leo sat between Sophia and Isabella in the garden.
He looked at Sophia.
“Aunt Sophia?”
“Yes?”
“Are you staying?”
She smiled.
“Yes.”
He looked at Isabella.
“Forever?”
Isabella laughed softly.
“We hope so.”
Leo nodded.
Then leaned against Sophia.
“Good.”
Alejandro watched from the doorway.
For years, he'd believed his family was broken beyond repair.
