Chapter 9 - THE NIGHT HANNAH DISAPPEARED AGAIN

Hannah failed to arrive for Sophia's scheduled visit on Thursday.

At first, I assumed she was working.

Then her phone went unanswered.

By evening, her sister Lily called me.

Her voice trembled.

"Hannah didn't come home."

My stomach tightened.

"When did you last see her?"

"This morning."

"Did she say where she was going?"

"She had a meeting with someone from the hospital."

I felt cold.

"What hospital?"

"Mercy Harbor."

I contacted the police.

Lily provided Hannah's recent messages and appointment details.

Investigators began searching.

A security camera showed Hannah entering a parking garage near the rehabilitation center.

A dark SUV followed.

The footage did not show her leaving.

I stared at the screen.

The vehicle resembled the one seen behind Isabella's Mercedes three years earlier.

For a moment, the old part of me took over.

I wanted to summon every armed man I knew.

I wanted to tear the city apart.

Then I remembered Sophia.

And Hannah's words.

Don't make this worse.

I turned to my attorney.

"Get the evidence to the police."

He nodded.

That night, I sat beside Sophia.

She looked at the door.

"Where's Hannah?"

I swallowed.

"She's missing."

Sophia's eyes filled.

"Again?"

I took her hand.

"We're trying to find her."

She looked at me.

"She promised she'd come back."

My throat tightened.

"I know."

Across the city, Hannah sat in a locked office inside an abandoned medical administration building.

Her wrists were bound.

Dominic Rinaldi stood beside the window.

"You should have stayed away from the Morettis."

Hannah lifted her chin.

"You hurt a child."

Dominic's expression hardened.

"I protected my interests."

She stared at him.

"That's what you call it?"

He stepped closer.

"Tell me where Isabella's copies are."

Hannah swallowed.

"I don't know."

May you like

Dominic smiled coldly.

"Then we have a problem."
