Hannah returned to work after recovering from the kidnapping.
But she knew she wanted something different.
She applied to complete her physical therapy education.
Her former employer reviewed the old complaint.
The investigation confirmed that the allegation against her had been unsupported.
Her professional record was corrected.
She received an offer from a university program.
When the acceptance letter arrived, she cried.
Lily hugged her.
Sophia called to celebrate.
I sent flowers.
The card read:
You earned this. Sophia and I are proud of you. — Luca
Hannah smiled when she read it.
She accepted the flowers.
But when I offered to pay her tuition, she declined.
"I want to do this myself."
I nodded.
"Then I respect that."
She smiled.
"You've changed."
I considered.
"I'm trying."
She looked at me.
"That's a better answer than pretending you've already finished."
I laughed softly.
