Chapter 13 - THE MAN WHO LEARNED TO LOVE

Dominic spent the next two years changing his life.
He separated himself from illegal operations.
Cooperated with authorities through legal counsel.
Restructured his legitimate businesses.
And accepted the consequences of decisions he'd made in the past.
The process was difficult.
He lost money.
Influence.
And relationships he'd once considered permanent.
But he gained something he'd never expected.
Peace.
One evening, Claire found him sitting in Teresa's garden.
He was reading a book.
She smiled.
“Look at you.”
Dominic looked up.
“What?”
“Relaxing.”
He laughed.
“Don't tell anyone.”
She sat beside him.
“How was your day?”
“Boring.”
Claire smiled.
“Good.”
He looked at her.
“You really think boring is good?”
“Sometimes.”
She leaned against him.
“Especially when boring means nobody is trying to kill us.”
Dominic laughed.
Then kissed her forehead.
