Chapter 10 - The Woman Who Turned the Tables

One year later, La Corona reopened.

Not as a secret meeting place.

Not as a symbol of fear.

But as a restaurant.

Isadora stood beneath the warm lights of the dining room.

The same room where Giovanni had once humiliated her.

The same room where she had poured ice down his expensive suit.

Tonight, the tables were full.

Families.

Couples.

Tourists.

Ordinary people.

No armed guards.

No whispered threats.

No politicians terrified of sitting too close to the wrong man.

Gio walked toward her.

He wore a simple black suit.

No bodyguards.

No weapon.

Just the silver locket in his hand.

“You're late,” Isadora said.

“I own the building.”

“Not anymore.”

He smiled.

“I know.”

She looked at him.

“You really gave it all up.”

“No.”

He stepped closer.

“I gave up what wasn't mine.”

Then he offered her his hand.

She took it.

Across the restaurant, Emilio raised a glass.

Antonio laughed.

Elena watched from the doorway.

For years, Isadora had believed the powerful always won.

She had been wrong.

Power could be inherited.

Fear could be purchased.

Names could open doors.

But none of those things could force someone to surrender their dignity.

Giovanni had once stood before an entire room and called her garbage.

She had answered by refusing to become small.

That had been the moment everything changed.

Not because she defeated a mafia boss.

But because she discovered she never needed his permission to stand tall.

Gio looked at her.

“Do you regret that night?”

Isadora smiled.

“The ice?”

“Yes.”

She leaned closer.

“Not for a second.”

He laughed.

“And the wine?”

“Especially the wine.”

He shook his head.

“You nearly destroyed a five-thousand-dollar suit.”

She raised an eyebrow.

“You survived.”

He looked at her for a long moment.

“So did you.”

Isadora's smile softened.

“Yes.”

Outside, the Amalfi evening glowed gold against the water.

The woman everyone once ignored now owned the restaurant where she had been humiliated.

The man everyone once feared had finally learned how to love without control.

And the family that had spent decades hiding the truth had lost everything except the one thing they could never steal.

The truth.

Isadora looked toward the sea.

Then down at the silver locket around her neck.

The old warning was gone.

Only three words remained.

May you like

Choose your life.

And this time, she did.
