Gabriel began restructuring his businesses.
He separated legitimate companies from criminal operations.
Cooperated with attorneys.
And started removing himself from the violent world that had nearly killed him.
It wasn't easy.
Some men resisted.
Others walked away.
But Gabriel continued.
One evening, Luca entered his office.
“Boss.”
Gabriel looked up.
“Yes?”
“The final transition documents are ready.”
Gabriel nodded.
Luca hesitated.
“What happens now?”
Gabriel looked toward the city.
Then smiled faintly.
“Now we stop pretending fear is the same thing as respect.”
Luca stared.
Gabriel continued.
“I want the businesses clean.”
“And the men?”
“Those who want honest work can stay.”
Luca nodded.
“And the others?”
Gabriel's expression hardened.
“They can leave.”
For the first time in years, the Moretti organization began becoming something different.
