Chapter 11 - THE FATHER WHO LOST HIS SON
Vittorio summoned Luca to the family estate.
He expected obedience.
He received something else.
Luca arrived with his attorney.
Not his guards.
Not his men.
His attorney.
Vittorio stared.
“What is this?”
Luca placed the original medical records on the desk.
“The truth.”
His father looked down.
His expression changed.
Luca continued.
“You paid Dr. Whitmore to lie.”
Vittorio said nothing.
“You controlled the hospital records.”
Silence.
“And you spent twelve years making me believe I could never have children.”
Vittorio looked up.
“You don't understand.”
Luca's voice hardened.
“Then explain.”
His father stood.
“The family needed stability.”
Luca stared.
“Stability?”
“Your grandfather's trust would have complicated everything.”
Luca laughed bitterly.
“So you destroyed my future to protect your control.”
Vittorio's face hardened.
“I built this empire.”
“And you were willing to destroy your son to keep it.”
Silence filled the room.
Then Luca removed his family signet ring.
He placed it on the desk.
Vittorio stared.
“What are you doing?”
Luca looked at him.
“Choosing my family.”
His father frowned.
“I am your family.”
Luca shook his head.
“No.”
He looked toward the door.
“My wife is my family.”
His voice broke slightly.
