Chapter 5 - THE SON WHO WANTED HIS FATHER'S THRONE
Nico had always believed he would inherit everything.
The restaurants.
The shipping companies.
The warehouses.
The men who lowered their voices when Leo Casaro entered a room.
But Leo had never promised him control.
Nico resented that.
He believed his father didn't respect him.
And when Leo discovered the bet, their relationship deteriorated further.
Nico confronted him in the family office.
“You embarrassed me.”
Leo looked up.
“You embarrassed yourself.”
Nico's face reddened.
“You chose her over me.”
Leo's expression hardened.
“I chose not to excuse cruelty.”
Nico laughed bitterly.
“You're acting like she's some innocent princess.”
Leo stood.
“Careful.”
Nico stepped closer.
“You think she doesn't know what you are?”
Leo's face went still.
Nico smiled.
“She knows you're a criminal.”
Silence.
Leo looked at his son.
“Yes.”
Nico blinked.
Leo continued:
May you like
“And that is why I have no right to demand her affection.”
For the first time, Nico had no answer.
