Chapter 11 - THE BETRAYAL INSIDE THE CASARO FAMILY
The investigation eventually established that Nico had concealed financial relationships with Vincent Caruso.
Those relationships connected him to companies involved in the dispute that led to my father's shooting.
Leo was devastated.
Not because the evidence threatened his business.
Because it implicated his son in a chain of events that had nearly killed an innocent man.
Nico denied ordering violence.
But he admitted hiding information about the dispute.
He also admitted using my father's medical bills to manipulate me.
Leo listened without interrupting.
Then said:
“You will cooperate with investigators.”
Nico stared.
“You're choosing her again.”
Leo shook his head.
“No.”
His voice was quiet.
“I'm choosing the truth.”
Nico's face twisted.
“You'll destroy the family.”
Leo looked at him.
“The family was damaged the moment you decided other people's lives were tools.”
