Chapter 12 - THE FALL OF THE WITMORES
The investigation expanded.
Evidence from the Blue Harbor archive, Elena's memory card, and witness testimony exposed the Witmores' criminal network.
Harrison Witmore was arrested.
Preston was charged with conspiracy, fraud, and offenses connected to Thomas Hayes's death.
Several associates faced prosecution.
The shipping companies involved were placed under investigation.
Genevieve watched the news from her office.
For months, she had imagined confronting Preston.
She thought she would feel triumphant.
Instead, she felt tired.
Roman stood beside her.
"Are you all right?"
She considered.
"I think so."
He nodded.
"That's enough for today."
Genevieve smiled faintly.
Then looked toward the photograph of her father on the wall.
Thomas Hayes.
The man who had taught her to ride a bicycle.
Who had stayed up late helping with school projects.
Who had left her a company and a note.
You'll know what to do with it.

She whispered:
"I think I finally do, Dad."
