Chapter 9 - The Fall of Blackwood Music

Following the verdict, the federal courts ordered the total liquidation of Blackwood Music Corporation.

Under the provisions of the federal restitution and copyright restoration statutes, full legal ownership of Elias Cole’s entire catalog—comprising over two hundred classical and cinematic compositions—was permanently restored to Nora and Chloe Cole.

The hundred-million-dollar draft Victor had signed on the stage was processed through the asset forfeiture division, along with an additional two hundred and fifty million dollars in recovered royalties and damages.

Nora and Chloe returned to Aspen, Colorado.

They bought back their old family home on the mountainside, renovating the sunlit music studio with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the pine valleys and snow-capped peaks.

In the center of the studio sat the restored Steinway concert grand piano.

One afternoon, Maestro Julian Vance visited the house, bringing with him a leather-bound score embossed with gold lettering:

"The New York Philharmonic has reserved opening night in September, Nora," Vance smiled warmly. "And there is only one pianist in the world permitted to take the stage."
