Chapter 6 - KENIA'S SECOND FACE

Ksenia resurfaced through a video posted to her millions of followers. She claimed Nikolai had publicly humiliated her, that Boris was confused, and that Anya had manipulated the entire confrontation to secure her son's treatment. The video spread before sunrise.
By breakfast, strangers had found Anya's social media accounts. Messages accused her of lying, seducing a wealthy employer, and exploiting a sick child. Anya deleted nothing. She preserved the threats and reported the most serious ones.
Nikolai wanted to respond immediately. Sofia advised patience: the forged documents and financial records mattered more than an online argument. Anya agreed, though the accusation about Maksim cut deeply.
Boris watched the video from his hospital bed. "She knows how to make cruelty look like concern," he said. "She practiced on me for months."
Anya remembered the times Ksenia had denied Boris medication refills while claiming the pharmacy was delayed. She had not known it was criminal.
Sofia's team traced several payments from the stolen pension account to a shell company registered by Ksenia's financial adviser. Another account received funds from Seabright Holdings. The connections were substantial, but they did not yet establish who ordered the scheme.
That afternoon, Anya received a handwritten note at the hospital reception desk: YOU SHOULD HAVE LET THE OLD MAN FREEZE.
Nikolai saw it and went very quiet. "I'm sorry," he said. "My world followed you to your son's bedside."
"It was already here," Anya replied. "Ksenia made sure of that."

For the first time, Nikolai understood that protecting someone did not mean owning their choices.
