Chapter 6 - The Eviction Notice on the Front Door

On Friday afternoon, forty-eight hours before the cruise ship returned, two marked County Sheriff cruisers and a military logistics transport truck pulled into the driveway of the Norfolk home.
Under the supervision of Julian Hayes and County Deputy Miller, a certified locksmith completely replaced the deadbolts on every exterior door, installed high-definition perimeter surveillance cameras, and padlocked the private two-car garage.
Inside the master suite, every single designer dress, luxury handbag, shoe box, and cosmetic kit belonging to Evelyn, Chloe, and Mason was packed into fifty standardized cardboard storage containers.
The containers were stacked neatly on the curb beside the municipal sidewalk under a waterproof canvas tarp.
Posted directly over the center of the heavy oak front door was a laminated, legal-sized document stamped with the official gold seal of the Norfolk Circuit Court:
NOTICE OF IMMEDIATE REAL ESTATE SEQUESTRATION & CRIMINAL TRESPASS WARNING: ALL UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY STRICTLY PROHIBITED PURSUANT TO COURT ORDER #2026-CV-884.

The house was clean. The locks were changed. The stage was set for the harvest of their greed.
