Chapter 8 - THE MAN WHO LIVED UNDER ANOTHER NAME

The breakthrough came from a medical records specialist.
A patient matching Gabriel's description had been transferred from St. Agnes Clinic to a long-term neurological rehabilitation facility in Wisconsin.
His records were filed under the name Michael Grant.
The facility had closed four years earlier.
But a former employee remembered him.
“He was quiet,” she said.
“Polite.”
“Did he remember his family?” Dante asked.
The woman hesitated.
“Not at first.”
Dante leaned forward.
“What happened later?”
She looked down.
“He began remembering things.”
“Like what?”
“A brother.”
Dante's heart hammered.
She continued.
“He used to draw the same picture.”
“What picture?”
“Two boys standing beside a lake.”
Dante closed his eyes.
Then whispered:
“Where did he go?”
The woman hesitated.
“I'm not sure.”
Dante leaned forward.
“Please.”
She swallowed.
“The last I heard, he was living near Madison.”
Two days later, Marcus located a man named Michael Grant.
Thirty-one years old.
Living in a small apartment.
Working at a bicycle repair shop.
He had a scar along his left arm.
And dark eyes that looked painfully familiar.
Dante stared at the photograph.
His hands trembled.
“Gabriel.”
Elena stood beside him.
“Are you sure?”
Dante nodded.
“That's my brother.”

Then his voice broke.
“He's alive.”
