Chapter 11 - THE SHIPMENT THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

The shipment was connected to a logistics company controlled by Richard Whitmore.

Seven years earlier, Gabriel had discovered that certain containers were being moved through Moretti-owned warehouses using falsified documents.

He confronted their father.

Vittorio Moretti refused to believe Richard was involved.

Gabriel threatened to report the operation.

Days later, his car exploded.

Investigators eventually uncovered records connecting the shipment to illegal trafficking of stolen industrial equipment.

The operation had generated millions.

Richard Whitmore had benefited.

And Gabriel had nearly died because he refused to stay silent.

Dante turned over the evidence to federal investigators.

He also provided records from his own companies.

The decision carried risks.

Some of his businesses had been involved in unlawful activities long before he inherited them.

But Dante had begun to understand that protecting a family name meant nothing if it required sacrificing the people who carried it.

Elena found him in the library one evening.

He was staring at a photograph of himself and Gabriel as children.

“Dante?”

He looked up.

“I don't know what happens next.”

She sat beside him.

“Neither do I.”

He smiled faintly.

“That's comforting.”

She laughed softly.

Then he grew serious.

“I built my life around control.”

Elena looked at him.

“And?”

He stared at the photograph.

“And I couldn't protect my brother.”

She took his hand.

“You found him.”

Dante shook his head.

“You helped me find him.”

May you like

Elena smiled.

“Then maybe we both did something right.”
