## THE LAST CONCINCAID SECRET
Malcolm's arrest exposed everything.
But one mystery remained.
Why had Harrison banished Jasper?
The final recording survived the fire because Jasper had copied it.
Harrison's voice filled the temporary house where the family had gathered.
“Jasper, if you're hearing this, you probably hate me.”
Jasper closed his eyes.
“I hope you do.”
Everyone looked at him.
“Hatred made you leave. Leaving kept you alive.”
Harrison explained that Malcolm had begun grooming Garrett to inherit the empire.
But Jasper questioned everything.
That made him dangerous.
Malcolm wanted him removed.
Harrison chose exile instead.
“I sacrificed your love because I didn't know how else to save your life.”
Jasper's eyes burned.
“I watched you from a distance. Every company you built. Every birthday. Every success.”
A pause.
“I wanted to call you a thousand times.”
Another pause.
“I was a coward nine hundred ninety-nine of them.”
Jasper laughed through tears.
The recording continued.
“If there is another life after this one, maybe I'll spend it earning your forgiveness.”
The recording ended.
For years Jasper had believed he had been rejected.
In reality, he had been protected badly by a frightened father.
It didn't erase the pain.
But it changed its meaning.
Conrad later admitted his own guilt.
He had helped Harrison hide the original scandal rather than expose Malcolm.
His silence had allowed the monster to grow.
“I don't expect forgiveness,” Conrad said.
“Good,” Jasper replied.
Conrad nodded.
“But testify.”
“I will.”
“And tell everything.”
“I will.”
