Chapter 3

## THE BOY WHO DREW THE DEAD
The next morning Jasper demanded the autopsy reports.
There weren't any.
Conrad claimed the bodies had been badly burned.
Jasper called the county medical examiner himself.
No record.
He called the cemetery.
Two sealed caskets had been buried.
Neither had been independently identified.
Someone had manufactured two deaths.
But why?
Jasper returned to Jonah.
“Show me.”
Jonah drew a lighthouse.
Jasper recognized it.
Blackwater Point.
The property had belonged to the Concincaid family for decades.
They arrived before sunset.
Inside the abandoned keeper's cottage, Jasper found medicine.
Fresh food.
A blanket.
Someone had been living there.
Then Brutus found blood.
Jasper followed the trail downstairs.
Behind a storage cabinet was another door.
He opened it.
A man sat chained to a pipe.
Thin.
Bearded.
Half-conscious.
Jasper stared.
“Garrett?”
His brother opened his eyes.
“Jasper?”
Everything Jasper believed collapsed in one second.
May you like
Garrett was alive.
