Chapter 6

## THE BROTHER WHO NEVER DIED
Malcolm arrived at nine.
He was seventy-one.
Soft-spoken.
Grandfatherly.
He hugged Jasper.
Then saw Garrett.
His expression didn't change.
That was what exposed him.
Any innocent man would have been shocked.
Malcolm merely said:
“This complicates things.”
Security men entered behind him.
They weren't Jasper's guards.
They were Malcolm's.
The inheritance was the final piece.
Harrison's death transferred control to Jasper.
Jasper's signature would consolidate the family foundation and shipping holdings into one entity Malcolm secretly controlled.
Then Jasper would suffer an accident.
Garrett had already been declared dead.
Jonah was a minor.
Malcolm would control everything.
But Jasper had anticipated betrayal.
Conrad emerged from the library with federal investigators.
He had not run.
He had gone for help.
Malcolm smiled.
“You think paperwork can stop thirty years of power?”
Then the mansion lights died.
Gunfire erupted outside.
Malcolm escaped.
And someone set fire to the west wing.
May you like
Jonah was still upstairs.
