Chapter 11 - THE NIGHT THE SILVER WOLF ROSE

The first attack came during the winter solstice gathering.
Hundreds of wolf-born families had assembled at the northern palace.
The ceremony was intended to celebrate peace.
Instead, masked attackers entered through the eastern service tunnels.
Their target was Elara.
Damian heard the first alarm from the council chamber.
He shifted immediately.
His black wolf raced through the corridors.
Guards shouted.
Doors slammed.
Somewhere, glass shattered.
Elara stood in the conservatory with Claire.
They had been discussing the new eastern governance proposals.
Then the windows exploded.
Three masked wolves leaped inside.
Claire screamed.
Elara froze.
One attacker lunged.
Instinct took over.
Silver light burst from her hands.
The attacker stopped midair.
Not thrown backward.
Not injured.
Simply stopped.
His body trembled.
His eyes widened.
Elara heard something inside him.
Fear.
Pain.
A command that wasn't his own.
She understood.
“You don't want to do this.”
The wolf snarled.
But his eyes filled with confusion.
Elara stepped closer.
“You can stop.”
Silver light spread through the room.
The attacker collapsed.
Shifted back into human form.
And began crying.
“I couldn't disobey,” he whispered.
Damian arrived moments later.
He saw the broken windows.
The unconscious attackers.
Claire trembling beside a pillar.
And Elara standing in the center of the room.
Silver light surrounded her.
Damian shifted back.
“Elara!”
She turned.
“I'm all right.”
He crossed the room.
Took her hands.
“Are you hurt?”
She shook her head.
Damian pulled her into his arms.
The surviving attackers revealed that Marcus Vale had arranged the assault before his arrest.
Several had been bound by unlawful dominance commands.
Elara had broken those commands.
Without killing them.
Without harming them.
That night, the council gathered.
Gideon addressed the room.
“The Moonborn gift is real.”
Silence.
“But it is not a weapon against our people.”
He looked toward Elara.
“It is protection against coercion.”
Damian stood beside her.
May you like
For the first time, the council members looked at Elara not with fear.
But with hope.
