Chapter 3 - THREE MEN IN BLACK SUITS

The following morning, a guard opened my cell.
“Bennett.”
I looked up.
“That's me.”
“You have visitors.”
I frowned.
“My attorney?”
The guard hesitated.
“Three of them.”
I stood.
Something in his voice made my stomach tighten.
He escorted me down a long corridor.
Past security doors.
Past a row of holding cells.
Then into a private consultation room.
Three men stood beside the table.
Tall.
Broad-shouldered.
Expensive suits.
The oldest had dark hair streaked with silver.
The second wore glasses and looked as though he hadn't slept.
The youngest stood near the window with his arms folded.
I stopped.
For a moment, I couldn't breathe.
Then the oldest man turned.
“Ellie.”
My knees nearly gave way.
“Gabriel?”
He crossed the room.
Pulled me into his arms.
And held me so tightly I could barely breathe.
My eyes filled.
“Gabriel.”
He whispered:
“We found you.”
Behind him, Julian Bennett removed his glasses.
His eyes were red.
And the youngest, Nathaniel Bennett, looked toward the door as though he was trying not to destroy it.
Three brothers.
Three billionaires.
May you like
Three men I had not seen together in more than twenty years.
And suddenly, the world I thought I understood began falling apart.
