Chapter 11 - THE LAST MOVE OF VINCENT TORINO

Vincent Torino wasn't finished.
Although investigators had linked his associates to Luna's kidnapping, he had avoided immediate arrest while authorities examined his role.
He began moving money.
Contacting former allies.
Preparing to leave the country.
But one person stood in his way.
Bianca Torino.
His daughter.
The woman he'd intended Luca to marry.
Bianca had spent her entire life being treated as a bargaining chip.
Her father chose her schools.
Her friends.
Her clothes.
And eventually, her future husband.
When Luca chose Luna, Bianca had felt humiliated.
But as she learned more about her father's activities, humiliation turned into horror.
One evening, she found documents in Vincent's office.
Payments.
Threats.
Records of illegal shipments.
And a photograph of Luna.
Bianca stared.
Then made a decision.
She contacted her attorney.
The next morning, she provided the documents to investigators.
Vincent was arrested three days later.
When reporters surrounded Bianca outside the courthouse, one shouted:
“Why did you betray your father?”
Bianca stopped.
She looked directly into the cameras.
“I didn't betray him.”
Silence.
She continued.
“I stopped helping him betray everyone else.”
Luna watched the interview from her apartment.
She felt an unexpected wave of respect.
That evening, she called Bianca.
The woman answered cautiously.
“Hello?”
“Bianca? It's Luna.”
Silence.
Then:
“What do you want?”
Luna took a breath.
“To thank you.”
Bianca didn't speak.
Luna continued.
“You didn't have to do what you did.”
Bianca's voice trembled.
“Yes.”
She paused.
“I did.”
For the first time, the two women spoke without the weight of their families' expectations.
And Luna realized something.
They had never truly been rivals.
May you like
They had both been trapped inside a system that treated women as prizes.
Now both were choosing freedom.
