Chapter 6 - THE NIGHT GABRIEL LOST CONTROL

Gabriel discovered the truth on Thursday.
A security analyst brought him a report.
“Boss, we found something.”
Gabriel looked up.
“What?”
“Ms. Bennett's resignation wasn't sudden.”
He frowned.
“What do you mean?”
The analyst placed several documents on his desk.
“Someone accessed her personnel file three weeks ago.”
Gabriel stared.
“Who?”
“An outside consultant working for the Marino family.”
His expression darkened.
“Why?”
The analyst hesitated.
“Her address, emergency contacts, salary history, and personal information were downloaded.”
Gabriel went still.
Then asked quietly, “Who authorized it?”
The analyst swallowed.
“Isabella Marino.”
Silence.
Gabriel stood.
His chair rolled backward.
“Get Lorenzo on the phone.”
The analyst hurried out.
Gabriel stared at the documents.
Clara had spent four years protecting his secrets.
And someone had violated hers while he was celebrating his engagement.
He felt something cold settle inside him.
Not rage.
May you like
Something worse.
Shame.
