He worked with attorneys and investigators to separate legitimate businesses from illegal activities.
He removed corrupt executives.
Established independent oversight.
And accepted that the process would cost him money, influence, and perhaps his freedom.
Nora watched him change.
Slowly.
Imperfectly.
But genuinely.
One evening, he asked her:
“Do you think people can become better?”
Nora looked at him.
“I think they can make better choices.”
Raphael nodded.
“That's not the same thing.”
“No.”
She smiled.
“But it's where change begins.”
He took her hand.
“I want a life with you.”
Nora's expression softened.
“So do I.”
He hesitated.
“But I don't want you to feel trapped inside mine.”
She smiled.
“Then we'll build something new.”

“Together?”
