Chapter 12 - THE TRUTH ABOUT LUCA

The investigation into Luca's death continued for months.
Victor's financial records revealed payments connected to the men who entered Luca's office.
Witnesses came forward.
Old evidence was reexamined.
And the suicide ruling was formally challenged.
Raphael cooperated with investigators.
He provided documents.
Answered questions.
And accepted that his own organization would face scrutiny.
The truth was painful.
Luca had discovered criminal activity inside the company.
He had planned to expose it.
Victor had arranged to silence him.
Raphael had spent six years believing his brother had chosen death.
Now he knew Luca had been trying to do the right thing.
One evening, Raphael visited Luca's grave.
Nora accompanied him.
She stood beside him with a cane.
Raphael looked at the headstone.
“I should have listened to him.”
Nora took his hand.
“You didn't know.”
He swallowed.
“He tried to tell me something was wrong.”
She remained quiet.
“I thought he was being reckless.”
Raphael's eyes filled.
“And I told him to stop asking questions.”
Nora squeezed his hand.
“Raphael.”
He looked at her.
“You can't change what happened.”
He nodded.
“But you can decide what happens next.”
Raphael looked at his brother's grave.

Then whispered:
“I won't waste what you died trying to protect.”
