Chapter 4 - The Stage-Managed Photographs

At 11:30 PM, Senior Detective Marcus Stone of the Special Victims Unit arrived at the hospital suite, accompanied by Julian Hayes, the Chief Legal Counsel for Vance Global Holdings.

Julian opened a high-security laptop, displaying the daily email archive Vivienne had sent to Daniel over the last seven weeks.

Side by side on the screen were:

The Falsified Daily Photos: High-resolution pictures of Sophie wearing pristine designer dresses, smiling at a sunlit breakfast table laden with fresh fruit, pancakes, and organic juice.

The Forensic Metadata: Timestamp analysis proving every single photograph had been taken in a single four-hour staging session on the day Daniel departed, using professional studio lighting to conceal Sophie’s weight loss and changing her into seven different outfits.

“Look at the background reflection in photo number four, Daniel,” Detective Stone pointed out, zooming into the chrome handle of the refrigerator.

Reflected in the metallic curve was the image of Margaret holding a wooden ruler in one hand while Vivienne adjusted Sophie’s chin with the other, forcing the terrified five-year-old to hold the smile for the camera.

“This establishes premeditated concealment under State Penal Code § 273a,” Detective Stone declared. “They manufactured evidence to deceive a custodial parent while intentionally subjecting a minor to cruel and unusual suffering.”

Julian Hayes adjusted his glasses, sliding a financial ledger across the table.

“And we found the motive, Daniel.”
