Chapter 13 - THE DAY THE TRIPLETS LAUGHED

The girls' progress was gradual.
Some days were easy.
Others were difficult.
They continued therapy.
Attended school with support.
Made friends.
And learned that speaking did not have to mean remembering everything at once.
Becca remained an important person in their lives.
But she no longer carried the impossible burden of being their only hope.
One Saturday, Valentino arranged a picnic in the garden.
No bodyguards nearby.
No formal dining table.
Just blankets.
Sandwiches.
Fruit.
And three little girls running through the grass.
Nova tripped over a garden hose.
She landed on the lawn.
For one terrifying second, Valentino froze.
Then Nova burst into laughter.
Stella laughed.
Then Luna.
Valentino stared.
Three voices.
Bright.
Unrestrained.
Joyful.
Becca looked at him.
His eyes were wet.
"They're laughing," he whispered.
She smiled.
"Yes."
He sat down on the grass.
And laughed with them.
Later, the girls asked about Annie.
With professional guidance, a carefully planned reunion was arranged.
Annie arrived with her guardians.
She looked nervous.
The triplets stood together.
For several seconds, nobody moved.
Then Luna stepped forward.
"Annie?"
Annie smiled through tears.
"Hi."
Stella reached for her hand.
Nova joined them.
The four girls formed a circle.
Then Luna whispered:
"Connected."
Annie began crying.
Valentino turned away.
Becca took his hand.
He squeezed it.

And for the first time, the triangle no longer represented a secret hidden inside trauma.
It represented four children who had survived.
