Chapter 1 - The Bag on the Marble Floor

The bag seemed to prove Emily was guilty.

Then the security camera revealed that Vanessa had planted the evidence herself.

Inside the mansion foyer, Emily stood defenseless in her housekeeping uniform while Vanessa faced her in a fitted black dress.

Between them, the same large brown leather handbag with a gold zipper rested on the marble floor from the very beginning.

Then came a single slap.

Vanessa struck Emily once across the cheek.

No repeated violence.

No blood.

Emily stumbled back, holding her face as the witnesses gasped.

“You stole it!” Vanessa shouted.

Emily fought back tears.

“I didn’t take anything.”

Before anyone else could react, Daniel stepped forward.

“Enough. Open the bag.”

The brown leather handbag was opened.

Inside, resting on black velvet, was a large diamond-style statement necklace.

Margaret covered her mouth in shock.

In an instant, the entire room seemed to turn against Emily.

But then the CCTV footage appeared.

Black-and-white overhead video.

A red timestamp.

A clear view.

The footage showed Vanessa standing beside Emily’s open handbag while holding the same necklace.

Moments later, she placed the necklace inside the bag.

Emily never touched it.

That changed everything.

Vanessa’s anger disappeared.

Her eyes widened.

The color drained from her face.

Daniel looked straight at her.

“You framed her. The camera caught everything.”

Vanessa had no response before the scene ended.

No explanation was given for why she did it.

The final close-up returned to Emily.

Still crying.

Still holding the cheek that had been slapped.

She lowered her eyes as the entire room fell silent.

The false accusation had been exposed.

But the emotional scars remained.

Why did Vanessa choose Emily as the person she wanted everyone to blame?

The answer began with something nobody noticed when the handbag first touched the marble floor.

The necklace was not the most valuable object inside it.
