Chapter 8 - DIVORCE WITHOUT REVENGE
I filed for divorce four months after the kitchen.
Adam accused me of planning it from the moment I started recording.
That was almost funny.
I had started recording because nobody else moved.
If he had stopped immediately, if someone had protected Sophie, if the family had reacted with horror instead of privacy—
maybe my life would look different.
But speculation became useless.
The divorce focused on:
Custody.
Home.
Accounts.
Support.
School.
Therapy.
Not revenge.
I did not try to “take everything.”
Adam remained Sophie’s father.
He paid child support.
Assets were divided under law.
I kept the house temporarily because Sophie’s therapist recommended stability.
Later, I sold it.
People were shocked.
“That was Sophie’s home.”
No.
It was the place where she learned to listen for her father’s mood.
We chose another house.
Smaller.
Yellow front door.
Backyard with one crooked apple tree.
