Victor Sanz disappeared before investigators could question him.
Ryan Mercer was arrested on financial charges connected to the fraudulent contracts.
But Victor remained free.
And dangerous.
One evening, I received a message from an unknown number.
YOU THINK RALDI CAN PROTECT YOU?
My stomach tightened.
Another message arrived.
ASK HIM WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS BROTHER.
I showed Aleandro.
His expression hardened.
Then he did something I hadn't expected.
He called the investigator handling the case.
Not Marco.
Not his private security team.
The police.
He gave them the messages.
Preserved the evidence.
And asked what additional precautions they recommended.
I watched him.
He noticed.
“What?”
I smiled faintly.
“Nothing.”
He raised an eyebrow.
“Amanda.”
I stepped closer.
“I'm proud of you.”
He froze.
For a moment, he looked almost embarrassed.
“That's an unusual reaction to reporting a threat.”
I smiled.
“Not for you.”
He understood.
And something in his expression changed.
A quiet recognition.
He was becoming someone different.
