Chapter 6 - The Sabotage in the Colorado Mountains

At 8:00 AM the following morning, in the snow-covered pine forests outside Aspen, Colorado, two mechanics hired by Flynn were crouching beneath Arthur Sterling’s armored Range Rover inside a private mountain lodge garage.
One of the men was using a pneumatic cutter to slice seventy percent through the main hydraulic brake line.
"Cut the secondary electronic sensor too," the lead saboteur whispered. "Make sure the warning lights don't trigger until they hit fifty miles per hour on the downhill pass."
CLICK-CLACK.
Six laser sights painted the chests and foreheads of the two mechanics.
Stepping out from the shadows of the garage were eight armed operators from the Sterling Executive Protection Detail, accompanied by Senior Detective Marcus Stone of the FBI’s Interstate Task Force.
"Drop the tools and lie flat on the concrete!" Detective Stone commanded.
The mechanics dropped their wrenches, falling to their knees in terror.
Within ten minutes, the saboteurs signed full sworn confessions, handing over the encrypted burner phones showing forty text messages from Flynn Vance authorizing a $250,000 murder-for-hire contract on Arthur and Eleanor Sterling.

Arthur Sterling stepped into the garage, dressed in his tailored wool coat, looking down at the saboteurs with cold, unyielding authority.
"Call my daughter in New York," Arthur instructed Detective Stone. "Tell Elena her father is ready for the reading of the will."
