Chapter 11 - THE BLUEPRINT THAT EXPOSED THE LIE

The case against Voss and Preston grew stronger.

Investigators examined the recovered records.

Independent experts verified the forged signatures and manipulated financial transactions.

Sloan's original Harbor Street drawing helped establish the location and history of the concealed document case.

But another discovery changed everything.

A letter written by Arthur Bennett.

It was dated two weeks before the company collapsed.

In it, Arthur documented concerns about suspicious property transfers.

He named Preston.

He named Voss.

And he described his intention to report the irregularities.

Sloan read the letter in silence.

Then began crying.

Her father had known.

He had tried to fight.

He hadn't simply failed.

He had been overwhelmed by people with more money and influence.

Roman sat beside her.

She looked at him.

"He wasn't careless."

Roman shook his head.

"No."

"He wasn't incompetent."

"No."

Tears slipped down her cheeks.

"He was trying to protect the company."

Roman nodded.

"Yes."

Sloan covered her face.

For three years, she'd carried the shame of her family's collapse.

Now she finally understood.

The shame had never belonged to them.
