Chapter 13 - THE TRUTH ABOUT SOPHIA REYNOLDS

Sophia was arrested for her role in Graham's financial crimes.
She cooperated with investigators.
During questioning, she admitted she'd helped forge documents and conceal correspondence.
But she also revealed something unexpected.
Alexander had never been romantically involved with her during our marriage.
The photograph outside the restaurant had been staged.
Sophia had deliberately positioned herself close to him.

I looked down.

Then anger followed.
“Then why didn't you come home?”
Alexander swallowed.
“Because I believed I was protecting you.”
I closed my eyes.
“You could have told me.”
“I know.”
I looked at him.
“You could have trusted me.”
He nodded.
“Yes.”
For a long moment, neither spoke.
Then I whispered:
“That's what hurt most.”
Alexander's eyes filled.
“I know.”
