Chapter 8 - THE MAN WHO NEVER CAME HOME

The investigation eventually led to a long-term residential facility operating under a different name.

A patient had been admitted ten years earlier.

His records were incomplete.

His identity had been concealed.

But the photograph matched Michael Hayes.

Nora traveled there with her attorney.

She entered a quiet room.

A man sat beside the window.

His hair was gray.

His body was thin.

His face was older than she remembered.

But his eyes—

She knew those eyes.

“Dad?”

The man turned.

For several seconds, he stared at her.

Then his lips trembled.

“Nora?”

She began crying.

He reached toward her.

She ran into his arms.

For ten years, she'd believed her father was dead.

Now he was holding her.

Michael had survived the attack.

But he'd suffered a severe brain injury.

Thomas's associates had concealed his identity and placed him in private care.

He had spent years unable to contact his family.

Nora held him tightly.

“I found you.”

May you like

Michael began crying.

“My girl.”
