Chapter 13 - THE WOMAN WHO CHOSE HER OWN LIFE

Nora returned to school.

She had always wanted to study occupational therapy.

Her experience caring for Camila had reminded her how much dignity mattered to people living with illness or disability.

She completed her training.

Worked with experienced professionals.

And eventually began helping families navigate long-term care.

Her father continued receiving rehabilitation and medical support.

His recovery was gradual.

Some abilities remained limited.

But he was home.

Her mother cried when he returned.

The three of them sat together at the kitchen table.

For a long time, nobody spoke.

Then Michael looked at Nora.

“You grew up.”

She smiled through tears.

“Yeah, Dad.”

He touched her hand.

“I'm sorry.”

Nora shook her head.

“You came back.”

He smiled sadly.

“I didn't know how.”

She held his hand.

“You're here now.”
