Chapter 10 - Sunlight on Lauren’s Garden (Happy Ending)Two years after that unforgettable afternoon in the bedroom, the warm summer sun bathed the sprawling limestone terrace and blooming rose gardens of our estate in Bedford.

The air was sweet with the fragrance of blooming white hydrangeas, fresh strawberries, and the joyful, unrestrained laughter of children.

Running freely across the lush green lawn were seven-year-old Jordan and Justin, kicking a soccer ball across the grass under the clear blue sky, their laughter ringing pure, sweet, and completely free of fear.

Under the shaded cedar pergola, a grand banquet table was laid with fresh fruit tarts, homemade peach pies, and sparkling lemonade, celebrating the twins' first-place finish in their regional science fair and the second anniversary of the Lauren Morrison Foundation for Highway Safety.

I stood by the carved stone balustrade wearing a relaxed linen shirt and dark slacks, holding a glass of iced tea.

Footsteps clicked softly against the flagstones.

Annie walked out onto the terrace wearing a flowing yellow floral sundress, her long dark hair dancing in the gentle summer breeze.

On her left hand, catching the brilliant golden sunlight, was a flawless emerald-cut diamond ring.

I wrapped a strong, loving arm around her waist, pulling her back against my chest and kissing the side of her temple.

"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Morrison?" I whispered softly, my eyes glowing with boundless love.

Annie leaned her head back against my shoulder, looking out at the boys playing on the lawn.

"I was thinking about that afternoon two years ago," Annie smiled, resting her hands over mine. "When I fell asleep on that bed, I thought you were going to fire me and throw me out into the street."

I turned her gently in my arms, cupping her warm, beautiful face with both hands, looking down into her hazel eyes with infinite devotion.

"You brought my sons back to life, Annie," I murmured against her lips. "You taught me how to be a father again. You gave this house a soul."

Jordan and Justin came sprinting up the terrace steps on their fast little feet, throwing their arms around our waists with a burst of pure, ringing giggles.

"Mom! Dad! Look! We scored three goals before lunch!" Justin beamed proudly.

Annie knelt down on the sunlit flagstones, scooping both boys into a warm, fierce, unbreakable embrace beneath the endless blue sky.

"You are the greatest champions in the whole world," Annie laughed, kissing their soft cheeks.

I knelt beside them, wrapping my arms around my wife and my sons beneath the golden sunshine.

The cold nightmares, the locked doors, the cruel lies, and the dark shadows of grief were gone forever. Standing tall in the warmth of truth, surrounded by honor, prosperity, and unconditional love, we were finally whole—a family united forever in everlasting light, peace, and triumphant happiness.
