Chapter 7 - The Forensic Audit of Harcourt Logistics

At 1:30 PM, the 50th-floor grand boardroom of Halcyon International Hotels was convened for an emergency extraordinary shareholder assembly.
Thirty senior corporate directors, international hotel owners, and major institutional investors sat around the sixty-foot polished mahogany table beneath sweeping crystal fixtures.
At the head of the table sat Eleanor Morgan, radiating absolute, sovereign authority in her midnight-navy tailored suit. Flanking her were David Chen and Marianne Brooks.
The double oak doors swung open.
Charlotte Morgan and Victoria Steele walked into the boardroom side by side.
Charlotte wore her forest-green blazer, carrying the primary evidence brief, her posture straight, commanding, and completely devoid of arrogance.
“Esteemed members of the board,” Eleanor announced, her deep, measured voice filling the vaulted chamber. “Before we vote on the multi-million-dollar supply chain renewals, Associate Charlotte Morgan will present the findings of the 72-hour operational audit.”
Several elderly directors exchanged skeptical glances. One senior board member scoffed under his breath: “An associate presenting a procurement brief?”
Charlotte stepped to the central podium, connecting her drive to the master display.
For forty-five minutes, Charlotte delivered a masterclass in forensic corporate analysis.
Without looking at her notes, she dissected twelve years of logistics frameworks, demonstrated how automated duplicate fee algorithms had been engineered to bypass manual spot checks, and presented undeniable cryptographic evidence proving Richard Harcourt and Bradley Vance had siphoned $48.6 million from the company’s operating reserves.
The room descended into a dead, suffocating silence.
David Chen adjusted his glasses, nodding in profound respect. “The mathematical model is airtight. There is zero room for dispute.”

Marianne Brooks stood up, holding two certified federal discovery injunctions. “Federal warrants for corporate wire fraud and grand larceny have been countersigned by the Southern District of New York.”
The entire boardroom erupted into a unanimous, standing roar of approval.
