Chapter 9 - The Eradication of the Traitor

A collective, stunned gasp exploded across the boardroom.
Uncle Carlo stepped forward, looking at Lily’s eyes, her smile, and the unmistakable Moretti dimple on her cheek.
“She is blood,” Carlo declared with deep reverence. “The true blood of our brother.”
Julian scrambled out of his chair, knocking his water glass onto the floorboards.
“This is an outrage!” Julian screamed hysterically, pointing a shaking finger at Elena. “Dante is presenting a street bastard to usurp our family’s line of succession! She disappeared five years ago! That child could belong to anyone!”
Dante snapped his fingers once.
Marco Bellini marched through the double doors, slamming a black titanium briefcase onto the table before Julian.
The four 85-inch monitors along the boardroom walls illuminated simultaneously:
The Certified Forensic DNA Profile: Proving 99.998% direct paternity between Dante Moretti and Lily.
The 5-Year Extortion Wiretaps: Audio recordings of Julian threatening Elena with snipers in Manhattan.
The Morning Strike Contract: Digital banking receipts proving Julian paid $50,000 to send six assassins to the Lake Forest estate three hours ago.
The Port Embezzlement: Ledgers proving Julian siphoned $84 million from family shipping routes into private accounts in Panama.
The entire boardroom erupted into a roar of absolute, unadulterated fury.
Uncle Silvio slammed his fist onto the table, his face turning crimson. “You treasonous dog! You sent killers after a five-year-old child of our blood?!”
Julian backed away toward the panoramic windows, hyperventilating in sheer terror. “Uncles! Please! Dante was making us weak! I did it for the family!”
“You are no longer family, Julian,” Dante said softly, each word landing like an executioner’s axe.
Two armed Black Watch operators seized Julian by his collar, pinning his arms behind his back and snapping heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.
“Under the sacred laws of this council,” Dante declared, “all assets, titles, and holdings registered to Julian Moretti are permanently stripped and forfeited. He will spend the rest of his life in a federal penitentiary for attempted capital murder and treason.”

Julian shrieked, weeping and begging for mercy as he was dragged out of the boardroom in heavy chains before forty flashing news cameras gathering on Michigan Avenue.
The thirty elders and capos rose to their feet in a unanimous, thunderous standing ovation, bowing their heads to Dante, Elena, and little Lily.
