Chapter 12 - THE WAITRESS WHO FOUND HER VOICE

Tessa's life began changing.

Not because Gabriel offered her money.

Because she finally allowed herself to imagine something beyond survival.

She had always loved languages.

As a child, she borrowed dictionaries from the library.

As a teenager, she taught herself Spanish by listening to neighbors.

As an adult, she had buried that passion beneath exhaustion and bills.

Gabriel encouraged her to apply for a scholarship in translation studies.

She hesitated.

“I'm too old.”

He raised an eyebrow.

“That's ridiculous.”

She smiled.

“Easy for you to say.”

He shook his head.

“No. You have a gift. You deserve to use it.”

Tessa applied.

Months later, she received an acceptance letter.

She cried.

Richard gave her a hug.

Chloe brought champagne.

Gabriel sent flowers.

The card read:

You were never invisible. — Gabriel

May you like

Tessa smiled.

For the first time, she believed it.
