Chapter 12 - THE FALL OF RICHARD BELLAMY

Richard Bellamy was arrested six months after the investigation began.
Federal prosecutors announced charges connected to financial fraud and obstruction.
Additional investigations examined the deaths of Michael Cooper and Sofia Ravalini.
The evidence was complex.
Old records.
Witness testimony.
Recovered messages.
Financial transfers.
And documents that had been hidden for years.
Vanessa was questioned about her role in the attempted business alliance.
She denied knowledge of criminal activity.
Investigators continued reviewing her communications.
Lucas attended the court proceedings.
Hannah sat beside him.
She had spent seventeen years believing her father's death would never be explained.
Now the people connected to his final investigation were being questioned publicly.
During one hearing, prosecutors presented Michael Cooper's letter.
Hannah recognized his handwriting.
She began crying.
Lucas took her hand.
Outside the courthouse, reporters surrounded them.
One shouted:
“Mr. Ravalini, did your family protect Richard Bellamy?”
Lucas stopped.
He looked toward the cameras.
Then answered:
“My family failed to confront serious wrongdoing when it mattered.”
Another reporter asked:
“Do you accept responsibility?”
Lucas nodded.
“I accept responsibility for what I can do now: cooperate, disclose the truth, and stop protecting people because they're powerful.”
Hannah watched him.
For the first time, she saw Lucas not as a man defending his empire.
But as a man willing to risk it.
Months later, Richard was convicted on multiple financial and obstruction charges.
The reopened death investigations continued through separate proceedings.
Hannah visited her father's grave.
She brought white flowers.
Lucas stood a respectful distance away.
Matteo held her hand.
“Miss Hannah?”
“Yes?”
“Was your daddy a good man?”
Hannah smiled through tears.
“Yes, sweetheart.”
Matteo nodded.
“Then he would be proud of you.”
May you like
Hannah began crying.
She knelt and hugged him.
