Chapter 11 - THE BILLIONAIRE WHO CHOSE THE TRUTH

The investigation into Richard Bellamy expanded.
Financial records revealed suspicious transfers involving Ravalini Holdings.
Several shell companies had been used to move money through consulting contracts.
Michael Cooper had identified part of the scheme seventeen years earlier.
Sofia Ravalini had discovered related records before her death.
Investigators also reopened the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
New evidence raised questions about the original conclusions.
Lucas cooperated.
He provided company records.
Authorized independent audits.
And agreed to testify about what he knew.
The decision came at a cost.
Investors panicked.
Business partners withdrew.
The press attacked the Ravalini family.
But Lucas continued.
One evening, Isabella visited him.
She looked older.
Exhausted.
“Lucas.”
He looked up.
“Mother.”
She sat.
“I never wanted Sofia to die.”
Lucas said nothing.
Isabella began crying.
“I thought if I kept quiet, Richard would leave us alone.”
Lucas stared.
“And did he?”
She shook her head.
“No.”
Lucas looked down.
“Silence didn't protect us.”
Isabella wiped her face.
“I know.”
He looked at her.
“It cost Sofia her life.”
Isabella began crying harder.
Lucas stood.
“I can't forgive you today.”
She nodded.
“I understand.”
“But Matteo deserves the truth about his mother.”
Isabella looked up.
Lucas continued.
“And he deserves adults who won't use him to protect themselves.”
That evening, Lucas found Hannah in the kitchen.
She was preparing hot chocolate for Matteo.
Lucas leaned against the doorway.
“You've changed this house.”
Hannah smiled faintly.
“I fixed a train.”
Lucas laughed.
“You did more than that.”
She looked at him.
He continued.
“You made Matteo feel safe.”
Hannah's expression softened.
“And you made me realize how much I'd been avoiding.”
She looked down.
Lucas stepped closer.
“Hannah.”
May you like
She looked up.
“Thank you.”
