Chapter 6 - THE MAN WHO KNEW HER NAME

The first threat arrived at my apartment.
A photograph.
My front door.
Taken from across the hallway.
Claire brought it to the estate.
Her face was pale.
“Nora.”
I stared at the image.
My stomach tightened.
Vincent looked at it.
His expression hardened.
“Who sent this?”
Claire shook her head.
“No return address.”
I took a breath.
“We need to give it to the police.”
Vincent nodded.
“Yes.”
The next day, investigators confirmed that someone had been monitoring my building.
Security footage showed a man entering the lobby repeatedly.
I watched the video.
Then froze.
“I know him.”
Vincent turned.
“What?”
I pointed toward the screen.
“That man.”
He leaned closer.
“Who is he?”
My voice shook.
“Ethan.”
Vincent frowned.
“Ethan who?”
I swallowed.
“My ex-fiancé.”
Silence.
Vincent stared at me.
“The man who left you?”
I nodded.
“Yes.”
For a moment, neither spoke.
Then Vincent whispered:
“Why would he be following you?”
I looked down.
“I don't know.”
But something inside me was beginning to understand.
Ethan hadn't simply left me two days before the restaurant.
He had disappeared.
May you like
And now he was connected to the men threatening Vincent.
The past I'd thought I'd escaped was catching up with me.
